Our history
Brendan and Vivian met on February 29 (yes, leap day) 2016, back when skinny jeans were
still in fashion and Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” was topping the charts. Like all great modern
love stories, theirs began on OkCupid—Vivian was intrigued by Brendan’s goofy photos and
his admitted fear of deep, open water. Brendan admittedly doesn’t remember the profile
details, but when Vivian’s message popped up his first thoughts were “I still have an
OkCupid profile?” and “Wow, this girl is CUTE!”
Their first date at The Homestead was just alright. Highlights included
Brendan trying on his German accent and Vivian establishing her brand by accidentally
ordering an Uber to her house instead of the bar, bringing the evening to an
semi-awkward end. Luckily, Vivian decided to give Brendan another chance. On their
second date at Hobson’s Choice, Brendan’s wicked smaht strategy of ordering strong mai
tais made him seem much funnier—and the rest is history.
Fast-forward a decade and they’ve made countless memories together. They’ve
flown all over the world, fueled largely by Vivian’s determination to reach the
hardest-to-reach corners of the earth. As proof, this story is being written from a
hotel room in Kazakhstan. They’ve also endured their fair share of on-road adventures,
thanks to Brendan’s love of “cars with character” and their charming ability to keep you
on edge from A to B. And somewhere along the way, they welcomed their pup, Topper, who
instantly became the light of their lives, as well as the bell of the San Francisco
ball.
In October 2025, Brendan proposed at one of their favorite restaurants, Ox &
Tiger, with a custom menu inspired by some of their favorite memories. Vivian had her
suspicions, but was thrown off when Brendan suggested she take a nap instead of doing
her nails. On November 5, 2026, they’ll officially wed in a small SF ceremony surrounded
by family. While the ceremony itself will be intimate, they can’t wait to really
celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
